Home Depot Appliance Return Policy In 2022

The Home Depot, which currently allows you to return almost any piece of qualifying appliance within the first 30 days of purchase, may change that policy in 2022.

The company stated that the new policy would allow customers to return home appliances within one year of purchase.

Exactly what qualifies as an appliance has not yet been determined.

Still, sources say that it will likely include major appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and ovens, as well as smaller items like blenders and microwaves.

Overview of Home Depot Appliance’s Return Policy 2022

Here is the overview of Home Depot Appliance’s return policy 2022.

What are the terms?

Here’s what to know about The Home Depot’s appliance return policy, including who it covers and whether it applies for doorbusters.

Once your purchase is paid off, you have three months to return your appliances. If you fail to do so within those three months, you lose that option forever. So plan accordingly.

You don’t get a full refund if you want to make a change or exchange an item—it depends on which home improvement project you’re working on.

It does not apply to special orders or commercial items sold through dealers. Additionally, there are specific time frames during which refunds can be made.

What products are included?

Home delivery and install services sell special order items on a case-by-case basis. Only significant appliances will be included, excluding special order items. Large appliances include refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, and microwaves.

These products can also be returned up to one year after purchase as long as they were initially purchased from an authorized dealer. Learn more about particular order return policies here.

Whether or not something is considered significant is based on its overall size. For example, if it takes up two full-sized appliance spaces (see image below), it’s deemed essential and will be subject to a one-year return policy beginning in 2022.

What about smaller appliances?

Smaller appliances such as microwaves and trash compactors can also be returned within one year of purchase when they were initially purchased from an authorized dealer.

Items must be unused and have all original packaging materials included with your receipt or packing slip to receive a refund at the time of purchase under these guidelines.

Will employees have to deal with returns?

No — they’ll handle returns at our network of stores and distribution centers. However, they appreciate customers understanding that they may request supporting documentation for any return that exceeds normal parameters.

Do I need a receipt to make a return?

Yes, you’ll need proof of purchase for items being returned. This means you must have either a store receipt, credit card statement, or shipping invoice along with your item.

If possible, please present us with everything together, so there are no delays in processing your return.

Are there any restrictions on the return?

You can return or exchange most products purchased in their stores or online, except for furniture and appliances, within 90 days of purchase.

They do not accept returns on special order items, including lighting fixtures and ceiling fans, water filters, paint/stain, and flooring purchases unless a manufacturer is defective.

They also do not accept returns or exchanges on merchandise that has been used, abused, or altered.

Can I return it in-store, or must I ship it back?

You’ll have a choice between returning your items in-store or by mail. Both options will cost you: in-store customers must pay a 15% restocking fee and shipping costs, while those mailing their returns will pay $15 per item plus up to $45 for shipping. You’ll have 120 days from the date of purchase to initiate your return, whether it’s in-store or by mail.

If there are multiple owners on an account, only one needs to purchase for all parties covered under that same account to be eligible for returns.

That is unless there are separate users set up on each card—in which case, every user on that credit card would need to place a particular order before being eligible for an in-store return and vice versa.

Is there a limit to how many units I can return at once?

Under the current policy, there is no limit to how many units you can return at once.

For example, if you decide to take back five refrigerators for whatever reason, that’s okay! All we ask is that you have a receipt for each item—without it, we may be unable to process your returns.

How long do I have to return my product(s)?

In 2022, there will be no time limit on product returns. You can go to a Home Depot store and return any item you’ve purchased, with no questions asked.

However, if you’re returning an item purchased at a different store (online or in-person), it must be within 30 days of purchase to be returned to a physical location.

You can take up to 45 days if you return an item shipped directly from our website by using UPS or Fed-Ex services.

Is there a fee for returning my purchase?

Now go out and enjoy your new appliances! There may be a restocking fee to return your purchase, but there are no additional or hidden fees.

If you have any questions regarding these policies, contact customer service. You can also check their website for an updated list of frequently asked questions and answers.

Are replacement parts covered under Home Depot’s new policy?

Any replacement part necessary for the operation of an appliance is covered under warranty, regardless of when it was purchased or who sells it to you.

It means that all those unopened boxes of fans and extension cords bought with your last appliance will be valuable in 20 years.

Will extended warranties be sold for all appliances purchased from Home Depot from 2022 onward?

No. extended warranties will not be sold for all appliances purchased from Home Depot from 2022 onward.

For many types of instruments, such as dishwashers and refrigerators, extended warranties may still be available.

Will full refunds be issued if an appliance breaks down within two years?

Full refunds are issued only when an appliance breaks down before two years have passed since its purchase date. If a refund is issued after more than three months but less than two years have passed since the appliance was purchased, you’ll receive 80% of your original price.

Refunds are determined using a standardized formula that considers how much time has elapsed since you bought your appliance.

Tips On Buying The Right Home Depot Appliances

Having a well-equipped kitchen makes cooking more enjoyable. Buying new appliances can be expensive, but if you shop around, you may be able to find better deals than at big box stores.

You also need to think about what kind of kitchen layout is most functional for your needs.

Before making any major appliance purchases, consider these tips for buying home depot appliances that meet your needs and fit into your budget.

Below we have listed three steps: what to do before you buy any hardware products, choose which hardware product is right for you, and lastly, valuable resources/websites we recommend that will help you make educated decisions when buying hardware products. We hope it helps!

Step 1)

Before buying anything from Home Depot or any other hardware store, the first step is to figure out what you need.

Ask yourself; if you want or need a specific tool. For example, let’s say you just bought some items from Home Depot and notice something in your car that needs fixing on your way home.

And lastly, go through your current hardware collection and assess what you could use. Don’t forget to weed out older or unused items.

Organizing your tool kit now will prevent unnecessary future purchases that often go unused because they were never needed in the first place.

Step 2)

Step two involves deciding the items that fit your needs. For this, you can consult with those who know best – your local professionals!

They work with hundreds (sometimes thousands) of different tools each day; ask them which ones best suit your needs. Let them know precisely what you’re working on and get their input.

Asking friends, family members, etc., is also a good idea for similar reasons as mentioned above.

Don’t neglect online research either; reviewing different online reviews can give you insight as to how specific tools perform and whether or not they are worth purchasing or not.

Make sure to read multiple sources of information regarding each device before making any final decisions.

Step 3)

Step three, research, research, research… This is by far one of my favorite parts. There’s nothing quite like going online and comparing prices for products I’m interested in.

You can even save yourself some time and effort by using price comparison websites like PriceBlink, which compare multiple major retailers at once.

Then finally, always make sure to consider additional costs such as shipping or taxes when shopping around.

That way, you won’t be surprised down the road when your item arrives with a bill attached to it (although most places ship free!).
